I was wondering what famous players in poker like Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson or Anette Obrestad get from the sponsoring website? What are there roles?

For one thing, I know they get to play what they love to do (online poker obviously) and get paid doing it!!

Yep they do get a cut. In Full Tilt Poker they give their star poker players a percentage the site takes from the pot. At least thats what I heard.

The term for this in poker lingo is Rakeback.

So Rakebacks are good? Is everyone entitled to this and not just the poker stars? I see this a lot on poker sites, news and in blogs in big bold letters.

they are the star attraction obviously. people will want a way to rub elbows with the stars. this way, it's a win win situation. the poker stars get more exposure and the casinos get celebrity endorsements and more playing (and paying) players. :D

More PR is what these guys get. The more publicity they get, the more well known they become and the same is true with these sites. More players will mean more revenue. Like PizzaGuy said, win-win.
