I went to North Carolina recently and passed a convenience store that had a video poker machine. I think this is just too convenient and since people of all ages go to convenience stores I think this is a bad influence on the youth.
Gambling should be done in casinos not in convenience stores.

That won't be a worry the way I see it. It is easy to disallow kids from playing on the poker machine. It is the same thing they do with minors buying liquor. They can't if they are asked for an ID. Besides, an attendant can easily tell them not to play with the machine.

Dont you need a license to operate gambling machines like a video poker machine? Are these machines allowed to be operated in a convenience store in NC?

While I can't speak for the law making body of the state of NC, shouldn't the owners of the store have enough moral decency to put the machine upfront that way they can monitor who plays?
What is a video poker machine doing in a convenience store in the first place???
