Say I placed my bet on Even then the ball lands on the zero after the spin. Do I win the bet? Zero is an even number.

Zero is not part of the Even numbers listed in roulette. When the ball lands on the zero you lose your bet. Sorry. :)

What Armand said but depends on where you play and what play-style the casino is following. European roulette rules allow you to get back half your bet if the ball lands on a 0 or a 00.

There is En Prison or La Partage rules that allow the player to recover the entire bet when the spin lands a zero (example: high–low, even–odd, red–black). Either you take the half and go on, or opt to put the original bet as a win or nothing gamble. When it wins the next spin you take back the whole amount. Otherwise you lost it.
This is common in EU casinos. Most USA casinos do not have either of these rules.
