It is being called Asian because this kind of handicapping method originated in, you guessed it - Asia. No wonder, yeah?

In this handicap the underdog is given a "head start" in points where the odds are then offered based on that "head start".

Asian Handicap is spread betting. It has become very popular way to bet in football over the years. One of the nice things of Asian Handicap betting is that it removes the draw from the equation. This becomes highly important because a number of football games end up in a draw. Therefore the chance of winning when you bet on either team becomes 50-50.
