It's hard enough to win in a casino where the odds are always stacked in favor of the house, but to play against a machine??? Does anyone actually win big money playing video poker?

I would say yes because this game is quite popular in casinos. All casinos games are rigged to favor the house - that's the challenge most gamblers cannot resist. They want to beat the house by winning big money. For me that is the essence of gambling.

Video poker is similar with slots, it has to payback a certain percentage to the player. Payback is simply the money returned to the player over time.

Playing with skill in video poker greatly affects the potential payback percentage. If you play with the right strategy you can actually gain advantage over the casino and expect a positive outcome that can go up over 100% making it profitable. Different video poker machines and variants have different pay tables. It is important you are aware of the pay tables. The higher the better.

Win? Yes, but not all the time. Luck always comes into play, but in case someone won it doesn't mean the house losses. As what "PierreJK" posted it depends on the payback method the casino has set.

On playing against the machine, actually it makes a little more easy than playing it against someone. Machine live on programming and uses algorithms to run, so if your a genius/ prodigy maybe just maybe you could outsmart it.:)

Win yes, but it is based on the total earning on the machine. For example, of the 100% total earnings only 90% of it is the jackpot price. Otherwise the casino would go broke. Payout on machine are always possible otherwise no one would be playing them.

The most common perception that "the house has always the advantage", video poker is an exception to that rule. All you have to do is play them same as playing it live. Apply the techniques you do on the table and you may have that advantage of winning.

To be very honest, I have never won in this poker game, as its not so easy to play. But, still I perform well their by using wild jack casino tricks.
