How assured are the players that the poker software being used by online poker sites is really fair in handling the cards? I mean what if there are bugs or it is being exploited?

I remember reading news about an online poker site that was being manipulated by a former employee who got admin access to the servers running their software. Nobody really suspected anything until 4 years after. They, there was a group with him, took in millions of dollars of winnings over the course of those years. He got caught but he wasn't really charged with anything. This happened years ago. Haven't heard anything lately although it doesn't mean it's 100% secure.

Yep he got away with it and lots of people were angry at how that online poker company handled things. They made a deal with the culprit to let him go as long as he tells them the whole story on how he was able to beat their system.

i think there is no assurance about this. even a software made by a big developer or company got their flaws. bugs are always there. unless they keep developing it till now.

i agree with you mardy, even games that being develop by EA and other developer got problem too. but as far as i know they are updating it everyday. i am also curious if those card are randomly shuffle or they are already set for several playing set.
