Dwan & Patrick on Home Stretch: Who Will Come Out on Top?

Poker Champion Tom Dwan recently challenged poker players to the ultimate duel: 50 000 hands at poker, claiming he could beat any player who was up for the challenge. In fact, this star is so confident he put down $1.5 million of his own money while opponents are required to put down $500 000 themselves. If victorious, the winner would receive all the winnings.

What’s the catch? The game must be played No Limit Texas Hold’em or Pot Limit Omaha style, with $200 or $400 on the blinds – and this style must remain consistent for all of the 50,000 hands of poker. No player is allowed to have less than 75 big blinds anytime. So, who is up for the challenge? Patrick Antonius, apparently, who has been playing Dwan for months at a time. They are currently on their 39437th hand of poker.

Dwan has only lost 20 700 of these hands to Antonius, and remains ahead with over $2 million of earnings from Antonius so far. Over 5 days of poker playing time is on the clock – and the two rivals are still trying to determine if the rising celebrity is really all he says he’s worth. For example, on August 3rd, he won over $45000 from him in under an hour. Can he win 50 000 hands against a single player?

Both players took a break for the 2010 WSOP world championships, but there are still 10 000 games that remain and no one is sure when the match will end – or who will come out on top! Viewers can watch their games at poker rooms on the internet.
